Can I quit my job on grounds of mistreatment?

Take the job offer - your boss has already reneged on one major promise to you (the furniture design), has you working extra (I assume you are salary) and you are obviously not happy with the working conditions. Ask yourself if you really want to continue to work there for some undetermined length of time waiting for the furniture design job to come open (if it even will).
