What are some Tips on being a good teacher?
Firstly you could improve upon your written English. In effect, a teacher doesn't prepare children for the real world, what they do is assist them by helping to develop the knowledge, confidence and social skills they will need when they do enter 'the real world'. The art of good teaching is to understand what and why children find difficulty understanding. For example, in British schools children are taught the industrial revolution as a part of their history lessons; many children think that history is all about famous people, kings and battles; teachers have to tell children that history is also about ordinary people, that we are living in an historical age. Much of what children learn at school has no apparent relevance to them or their lives, a teacher has to try and bridge this gulf. It might help if modern schools dropped the inappropriate title 'student' and returned to the accurate term, 'pupil'.
