Why do people think calling CPS does anything for the child?

In some cases the kids end up in better situations, but in many many cases, the social services worker is overworked and underpaid and is really not able to follow up as they should. The result? Kids going from a mother who had issues to a stranger who has even worse issues than the mother. Now, you have a kid who was not only neglected by mom, but is molested, beaten, caged....or worse.....but at least you can sleep at night because this kid is not in the care of their mother who gave them a spanking in the grocery store. I'm sorry but I have seen a kid getting disciplined (who needed it by the way) and seen other people looking at that person like "he/she is just a kid".......I am not as quick to pass judgment on people with their kids after watching my nieces and nephews act crazy and my siblings deal with them accordingly................don't get me wrong, interventions are necessary in some cases with some parents, but if you are not willing to really help.....are you really helping?
